Puglia: A “TerlizziViva” Free-lancer attacked

The relatives of a deceased women, whose funeral ended in a brawl, told him, “Remove the article,”. The newspaper reported the incident.

“Give me the phone number of the chief editor or tell him to remove the article.” Followed by a series of insults and threats including “I’ll cut your head off”, and having his mobile phone torn from his hands. This was the form of the attack on Francesco Pittò, collaborator of the magazine Terlizzi Viva, edited by the journalist Giuseppe Di Bisceglie.

THE FACTS – On the 6th September 2019, in Terlizzi (Bari), Francesco Pittò was contacted by some individuals. They were the relatives of a woman whose funeral took place the day before. During the funeral a brawl had broken out among those present. Law enforcement officers intervened to calm the situation. The same evening TerlizziViva, reported the event in an unsigned article.

When those individuals looked for him, believing him to be the author of the article, Francesco Pittò agreed to meet them to explain that he was not the person they were looking for. But when he arrived at the rendezvous he was immediately attacked. He got medical attention in Accident and Emergency and then reported the attack to the Carabineer.
