Professional training for war correspondents is due, says D’Ubaldo (OdG Lazio)

“Thanks to Ossigeno for its training and for keeping the spotlight on the cases of threatened journalists”

OSSIGENO 9th June 2022 – In the Order of Lazio (Odg) there are 21,000 journalists members, but over 10,000 are non-compliant, and not up to date with continuing professional development. Guido D’Ubaldo, its President, stated this during the conference entitled “War, peace and information. The risks of journalists. The case of Ukraine “, whilst thanking Ossigeno per l’Informazione because it keeps the spotlight on the cases of threatened journalists and for its training activity which is also very important for colleagues sent to cover conflicts.

“Training – recalled d’Ubaldo – is a legal obligation and must be respected. We have tried to facilitate this also by increasing the training opportunities and we are examining ways to do this”. Responding to a question from the audience on the possibility of attending training courses during working hours, thus facilitating attendance, he replied: “we are working on it, even if the publishers are against it.”
