A statement by the head of the European desk of RSF urges the intervention of the Provincial Committee for Public Order and Security

On the 14th March 2019 Reporters Sans Frontières (RSF) urged the Italian authorities to provide a higher level of protection to the journalist Marilù Mastrogiovanni (read here) confirming a measure anticipated by the prefect of Lecce.

“This journalist will continue to be exposed to serious death threats if no action is taken,” declared Pauline Adès-Mével, head of the RSF desk for the European Union. “Already last summer, when Mastrogiovanni had received new threats, – she added – we invited the local authorities to do everything possible to protect her. We welcome the decision of the prefect to grant her this protection, but its implementation depends on the provincial committee for public order and security of Bari and Lecce “.
